What is Zirconium Oxide High Refractive Index Coatings?
Zirconium oxide is also known as zirconia, and is also called imitation diamond because of its transparency and refractive index close to diamond in the jewelry industry.It is industrially known as a ceramic with excellent toughness, heat resistance, and chemical resistance. Zirconium oxide is also one of the high refractive index materials. Although it does not extend to the refractive index of titanium oxide, it is often used in thin film coatings where transparency is required because of its higher transparency compared to titanium oxide.
TOKUSHIKI has developed a high refractive index coating agent using this zirconium oxide. In addition to the regular type with excellent high refractive index, UV cut type which cuts the wavelength in the UV region is available. It has high concentration but low viscosity, so it is excellent in workability.
Further, depending on the type of filler such as resin or metal oxide to be added, it can be customized, for example, by increasing the hardness in addition to the properties of the UV cut described above.
